Responsibilities

Planning and Operations  

Plan and coordinate daily quarry operations including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and  crushing.  

Develop and manage production schedules in line with geological assessments and market  demand.  

Ensure effective allocation and maintenance of personnel, machinery, and materials. 

Monitor equipment performance, schedule maintenance, and minimize downtime. 

Adjust production plans based on material requirements or unforeseen circumstances. 

 Safety and Compliance  

Enforce strict adherence to all safety regulations, including OSHA, MSHA, and local safety  laws.  

Lead a strong safety culture through training, audits, and regular inspections.  Ensure environmental controls are in place for dust, noise, and waste management.  

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and compliance with relevant laws and permits.  

Personnel and Site Management  

Recruit, train, and supervise quarry workers and technical staff.  

Conduct performance management, set KPIs, and foster team development. 

Maintain accurate records for staffing, production, equipment, and safety inspections.  

Financial and Administrative Duties  

Prepare and manage operating budgets to ensure profitability. 

Monitor costs and implement cost-control strategies.  

Liaise with sales, logistics, and commercial teams to coordinate outputs and orders. 

Prepare reports and development proposals for company leadership and regulatory bodies.  

Stakeholder and Community Engagement   Communicate effectively with contractors, suppliers, regulators, and customers. 

Build positive relationships with local authorities, landowners, and community groups.  

Educational requirements

Degree or diploma in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related field.  

Experience requirements

3+ years of experience in mining or quarry management. 

Additional requirements

 Certification in safety (e.g., NEBOSH) or quarry-specific training.  

Familiarity with Quarries Regulations 1999 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Quarries)  Regulations 2008 OR other.
