Responsibilities

Job Purpose/Summary

The Jack Operator operates a Hydraulic Workover (HWO) unit using well intervention techniques, which can be used to install or remove tubular in/out of static well operations. She/he intervenes on wells with zero surface pressure and heavy fluid or mud in the wellbore, or those not capable of sustaining natural flow.

Main Mission/Result Area

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

·       Provide instruction in the rig-up/down of the unit.

·       Operate the jack with tubular and BHA's and high-pressure pumps.

·       Instruct personnel on the inspection and operation of power packs (Hydraulic or Mud Pump).

·       Operate traveling and stationary slip bowls and demonstrate how to dress the bowls with appropriate dies for tubular requirements to complete the job.

·       Instruct personnel on operating counterbalance winches and demonstrate how to adjust hydraulic pressure.

·       Assist with the load and unload of equipment and ground operations, including testing of BOPs and related equipment.

·       Arrange the layout of the BOP and riser assembly to properly space out the stack for operation.

·       Install all cables on the gin pole. (Counterbalance, Main Hoist, and Scoping cable).

·       Assist in basket operation as a trainer and replacement.

·       Perform basic maintenance duties, lubricating and fueling equipment.

·       Operate the choke manifold and line up the circulating manifold to the standpipe or kill line.

·       Handle and weigh drilling or brine fluids.

·       Perform and document critical function tests and weekly routine maintenance inspections.

HSSE Accountabilities

·       Report any hazards, all near misses, and any injuries immediately to the Superviser.

·       Perform Behaviour-Based Safety System and Risk Assessments.

·       Participate in all HSSE intervention schemes (Incident reporting cards, Incident reporting, site visits) and awareness sessions (HSSE Meetings, events, and trainings) to maintain and improve Company HSSE culture and performance.

·       Participate in all toolbox & site Safety Meetings

·       Understand the emergency procedure of site procedures and the related requirements.

·       Lead as a role model to improve HSSE engagement within the direct team, section, and department.

·       To strictly comply with the company's "No-Smoking",  "Drug & Alcohol",  "Internet & IT Usage", "Mobile Phone" & other policies

N.B: The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned.

·       Understand work conditions and requirements, and be available to be deployed in more than one site, and to travel when required.

·       Ability to multitask and provide assistance when required.

·       Exposed to regular physical plant noises and smells related to repairing and inspecting plant equipment.

·       Occasionally needs to work in awkward positions while inspecting a physical plant.

·       Always convey a professional appearance and attitude.

·       Lead and coach all junior to mid-level  operators to provide top-notch services.

Educational requirements

·  Preferably a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering / Mechanical Engineering.

Experience requirements

·  At least 3 years + experience in the Oil & Gas sector.

Additional requirements

·     Proficiency in Drilling Operations

·       IWCF Certified at supervisory level (3) – mandatory for intervention on live wells.

·       BOSIET Certified

·       Maintain a high level of safety awareness and standards in all daily duties and tasks.

·       A proven track record of previous experience in managing a Team is desirable.

·       Ability to communicate effectively (Fluent in English and French).

·     Ability to work effectively with others.    Strong interpersonal relations, communication, and problem-solving skills.
